VILLAJOYOSA

Villajoyosa is located 32 km northeast of the city of Alicante. It is the capital of the region of the Baja Marina. Through the town of Villajoyosa passes the river Amadorio, coming from the swamp of the same name: Embalse del Amadorio. The municipality has 15 km of coastline. The Municipality of La Vila Joiosa had its first settlers in the Bronze Age. The hill where the old town is located was an Iberian city and there are well-founded reasons to identify it with the Alonis of the classic texts. The excavations of the Necropolis of the Poble Nou, the longest known period for Iberian culture (s.VI a.C.) have provided many materials for military and daily use that are displayed in the Municipal Museum.

Villajoyosa has an exceptional climate, typically Mediterranean, because being located in a coastal territory quite isolated from its surroundings by arcs of high mountain ranges that enclose it, the cold winds and the rains of the west, the most frequent of the Iberian Peninsula, are retained In the inland saws. The average annual temperature is above 18º. Summers are warm and winters moderate (the temperature usually drops below 10º). The total rains hardly exceed 300 mm and frost is nonexistent. Due to the proximity of the two international airports: El-Altet (Alicante) and Manises (Valencia), it is very well communicated. And thanks to the AP-7 highway that has an access in the same town it is very easy to reach any destination. There are AVE trains to Madrid from Valencia and Alicante. It has wonderful golf courses nearby: Golf Club de Altea, Ifach Golf Club, (Moraira) Javea Golf Club, two courses at Villa Aitana Finestrat and Bonalba in Alicante.
